The government’s civil defence plan has been strongly condemned by the opposition party Die Linke, who say it could lead to people panic buying.
This is in Germany, and this type of government advice hasn’t occurred since the Second World War. Why now, as it seems more like a tactic to make people scared?
One argument is that when people are scared they allow the government to take away their freedoms, the people ignore things like the bad economy, and so on. Basically, it’s a way for government officials to pass laws and do things they wouldn’t normally be able to during happier times.
