Recently, the president of Chick-fil-A gave an interview to the Baptist Press stating that Chick-fil-A is “Guilty as charged” in its support of the “the biblical definition of the family unit” meaning anti-gay-marriage of course.
Chick-fil-A fans took to Facebook and Twitter to express their disappointment in this stance..
The Henson Company, which was supplying Muppet toys to Chick-fil-A kids meals, stated they would not be partnering with the company anymore, at which point Chick-fil-A pulled the toys from their stores “due to a possible safety issue.”
This further infuriated people as the toys were not pulled “for safety reasons” and more exchanges occurred on Facebook. Then a young girl by the name of Abby Farle started defending Chick-fil-A, stating that the toys were removed “weeks before any of this… John 3:16”.. not sure why the biblical reference…
Then someone noticed that “Abby joined facebook 8 hours earlier. And another noticed that Abby Farle’s profile picture was taken from Shutterstock images.
Then the tweet storm happened.
The lesson to be learned here is that if companies want to express their political views and even contribute massive amounts of political money in support of those views, they may end up losing a few customers in the process, or gaining some, depending on what side of the argument the customers find themselves.
This is the reason why corporations are trying to keep their political contributions secret, so that they can buy politicians and not suffer the consequences to the bottom line as has happened here.
