Here is a famous video about how a bill is created and becomes a law in the US Government. Isn’t it cute how the people get together, think of a law, call their congressman who picks up the phone, likes the idea, and writes up the bill himself. He then debates the merits of the bill with other congressmen, and then eventually the law gets passed.

Wouldn’t it be great if that’s how laws were made today?

Unfortunately, corporate lobbying put a stop to that process a while ago. Today, the general public has “near zero” influence on Government politics whereas Corporations and Special Interests have 45% success in passing laws and 82% success in preventing laws they don’t like.

It might be time to update this video to more accurately reflect the times!
