It may be delicious, but the evidence is growing that meat is kind of a disaster.

But, the raising of cattle does appear to be a major contributor to global warming and some governments are starting to react to that. I never knew that meat production may be contributing to as much global warming as all the cars on the earth, but it appears to be. From Scientific American:
Yet according to a 2006 report by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), our diets and, specifically, the meat in them cause more greenhouse gases carbon dioxide (CO2), methane, nitrous oxide, and the like to spew into the atmosphere than either transportation or industry. If that’s the case, and the fact that red meat is not really the best thing for you in large quantities, then if cutting back in one’s intake of red meat might help alleviate some global warming, AND make you a little healthier, then why not do it?
