Senator John McCain of Arizona, who just this week returned to the Senate after receiving a diagnosis of brain cancer, cast the decisive vote to defeat the G.O.P.’s “skinny repeal” health care proposal.

There were a couple of other Republican Senators who also voted NO, Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski, and they were early NOs, but because McCain voted to allow the vote, he was expected to vote YES, but voted NO in the end, thus defying the GOP, and getting all the attention as the one who killed this repeal.
