Gaslighting is a tactic in which a person or entity, through a series of repeated lies and various other steps, makes a victim question their reality. It’s very effective and used all the time.

The term comes the movie Gaslight (1944), where a man manipulates his wife to the point where she thinks she is losing her mind.
