The Camp Fire has become the most destructive wildfire in California history, destroying numerous California neighborhoods. It’s part of a trend.
These fires are part of a trend. Fire season in the western US is getting longer each year, and some experts say the concept of seasonal wildfires is outdated, since dangerous fires can now happen anytime.
As many as 11 states could see a 500% increase in the amount of land burned annually by 2039, according to a recent study.
Annual financial losses due to wildfires now range from $63.5 billion to $285 billion.
Climate change is real people, and whether humans are causing the change or not, we have to do everything we can to try to limit the amount we, as humans, are contributing to this change. And we can’t expect businesses themselves to pay for it, we can pay for it as a country through some kind of Green New Deal.
