Of course corporations deny global warming because they don’t want to pay for having the cut emissions, but when ordinary people deny it, it appears that there is a conspiracy theory running around, with regard to global warming. And that theory takes on the following form:
Global warming is not about science, but about politics — that is, about expanding the power of elites using the coercive instruments of government to control the lives of people everywhere. Just as the governing class embraces ineffective Keynesian stimulus spending to justify expansion of government, they now extol AGW as the basis for increasing their power to rule over the rest of us.
This from a Forbes article many years ago. It appears that the conspiracy theory is a bit of a libertarian, anti socialism conspiracy. Libertarians know that global warming will not be addressed by the free markets, that governments will need to get involved, and that scares the hell out of them… more so then the entire planet blowing up around them!
