House of Representatives

Monday

  • Declares the House of Representatives must uphold their commitment towards the partnership between the United States and Argentina, reaffirming that Argentina is a major US ally, encourages the Department of State to create a strategy in order to increase cooperation with the government of Argentina, and commends President Macri for making “far-reaching economic reforms that will benefit the people of Argentina, stimulate economic growth, and deepen Argentina’s integration with the global economy” as well as encouraging the ongoing investigation for those persons responsible for the 1994 bombing of the AMIA (Argentina-Israeli Mutual Association)

Condemning North Korea’s possession of ballistic missiles and nuclear weapons in a development program, how it poses a threat to the United States, its allies, South Korea, and global security, which has the ability to reach the United States. Included in the text is a break down with dates of occurrences of North Korea’s nuclear development program

  • Requires a report on North Korea as a state sponsor of terrorism

Tuesday

  • Authorizes programs in enhancing weather alerts and forecasting with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) as well as required programs that improve forecasting and their effects (emphasizing high impact weather events)
  • Directs the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to update regulations and require that a business who issues securities, to provide investors with additional information about employee equity compensation plans if the value of total securities issued during the last year exceeds $10 million
    • Amends the Public Health Service Act, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA), and the Internal Revenue Code to update the definition of “health insurance coverage” as a stop-loss policy obtained by a self-insured health plan or a sponsor of a self-insured group health plan to reimburse the plan or sponsor for losses incurred in providing health benefits to plan participants in excess of a level set forth in the stop-loss policy

Thursday

  • H.R. 1219Supporting America’s Innovators Act of 2017
  • Amends the Investment Company Act of 1940  to expand the limitation of investors for qualifying venture capital funds under an exemption from the definition of an investment company

Monday

  • S. 89Amends Title 46 to exempt old vessels that only operate within inland waterways from the fire-retardant materials requirement if the owners of such vessels make annual structural alterations to at least 10 percent of the areas of the vessels that are not constructed of fire-retardant materials and for other purposes
  • Judiciary Committee – Vote on nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch onto the US Supreme Court
